What do Fibromyalgia (FM) symptoms feel like? FM is very painful, I can't bear for anyone to touch me, even just a light pat on the back, it feels as if they are throwing 1,000 needles at me and I have no control. I'm always in pain. ~ Sarah, age 15 My son has FM, he says it feels like some one has hooked up a faucet to his side and drained out all of his energy. He never gets a good night's sleep. Most people would think he was lazy because when I wake him up in the morning it takes him a few minutes to get going. He is achy and stiff. ~ Pamela, mom of 11-year-old boy with FM They're really, really bad. ~ Rebecca, age 8 I would say FM feels like pain – always, always being tired and no one understanding what I'm going through. Even though my mom has FM too I still feel like she does not understand ~ Kelly, age 18, ill for several months
